My, how the time flies!

I can't believe it's already been two weeks since my last update! Things are going very well around here. We took both boys to the doctor on Monday for their checkups. Kaden is a growing, healthy boy! He is actually in the 60th percentile for height - who would've thought that could ever happen? Noah is doing great as well. He is finally back up to birth weight which is a huge relief. I can already start to notice that he is growing. It's a little sad because I love him when he's tiny, but I know that each stage gets better and better, so I'm excited to see all the changes he'll make. We took him for his newborn photos as the Picture People yesterday. I never had newborn pics taken of Kaden, and I really regret that, so I decided that with Noah we would have some taken. I'll post some on here - they are so good!
Patrick and I are doing well. It's been a. surprisingly, easy adjustment having a newborn around again. With Kaden, we were in a coma for about the first three months, but this time has been much easier. I guess it's because we have done it before. I'll post some recent pics of the boys, and I'll try to do a better job of updating!

Noah is here!

Sorry it's been awhile since the last update, but things have been very crazy around here (in a wonderful way)! Noah Bradley Todd was born February 17, 2009 at 7:16 a.m. He was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 19 inches long. We came home from the hospital on the night of February 19th - my doctor discharged us early because we were both doing so well! We had a rough few nights at first because Noah had jaundice, and it really made him cranky. He is doing much better now, though, and is gaining weight and sleeping better at night. The last time we went to the doctor he weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. which is up from 7 lbs. 1 oz (he lost a full pound due to the jaundice). He is absolutely adorable, and we love him so much :)

Kaden has adjusted well to being a big brother! He is really crazy about Noah - he is constantly hugging him and stroking his face and patting his belly. It is really adorable. We can tell there is a little jealousy there, but we are working really hard to make sure we give equal attention to both boys. Some really big news is that today is Kaden's 2nd birthday!!! We are going to have a birthday party for him on Sunday at my parents house with all the family. These past two years have flown by, and we know they are only going to continue to do so with a new baby in the house.

I'll try to keep everyone posted as often as I can!

It's Almost Time!

I went to the doctor today for my 36 weeks visit, and we have a date for the amniocentesis! I'll be going in at 8:15 on February 12th for that pleasant procedure, and we ought to find out the next day whether or not the baby is ready to be delivered. If he is, we're looking at February 16th as Noah's birthday! If the amnio shows that he's not ready, I have no idea when the big day will be - I'll have to wait and see what the doctor says. It all seems so far away, but, at the same time, it feels like we are flying by the seats of our pants finishing up the nursery, cleaning the house, etc. I'm definitely in nesting mode :)

Everyone is doing really well, and we are getting very excited and nervous about the idea of having a new baby. Kaden is loving the new nursery! It's so funny because he hated the crib when it was his, but now that it's in another room, he loves it! Patrick and I are a little nervous about having a new baby along with a new member of the "terrible 2's" - Kaden is just awesome, but he is definitely getting to be a little toddler and has his daily tantrums. I just hope that we adjust well to being parents of not only a new baby but also a toddler. It's going to be a big change, but we have faith that all will be fine! I'll update next week after the amnio! Pray for us!

We're going to have a big boy!

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 35 weeks ultrasound. This time, they actually measured Noah to see how much he's grown since my 32 weeks visit. According to the ultrasound, Noah is weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs. 4 oz.! Kaden was 7 lbs. 3 oz. when he was born, so Noah is going to be a much bigger baby! Of course, the ultrasound tech assured me that their estimates are usually greater than the actual weight, but at this rate, it looks like we're going to have an 8-pounder on our hands! Other than that, everything looked great on the ultrasound. All of his organs are doing just fine, and he is moving around and doing his practice breathing at a satisfactory rate. I don't mind having a big boy as long as he's healthy! My next visit is Thursday 2/5 and my amniocentesis will probably be Thursday 2/12. If the amnio shows that Noah's lungs are developed enough, we'll probably schedule the c-section for either 2/13 or 2/16! We're almost there!!

Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share with everyone. My family had to say goodbye to a much-loved family member yesterday. My Grandmama Melanie passed away yesterday due to cancer that started in her spine and spread to her brain. She found out about the cancer shortly after Christmas after being in remission for about a year from a different type of cancer. She gave a good battle and was such a fighter, but she just couldn't fight anymore. Her death happened so quickly that my whole family is in shock. Please keep my family in your prayers as we cope with this difficult loss. She was a fantastic lady, and she is going to be missed tremendously by so many people.

That's all for now. I'll update next week after my doctor's visit, or, before then, if there is breaking news :)

Kaden's 1st Snow Day!

It's hard to believe, while we are sitting around in t-shirts with the windows open, that Tuesday was a snow day! It's warmed up quite a bit since then, but we had a great time getting out and playing with what little snow we got (less than an inch). Kaden really enjoyed it - it was very difficult to get him back inside after playing, but it was so cold that we could only stay out for about 20 minutes. We just don't have the right clothes for snow! Anyway, he touched the snow, tasted the snow, and made his first snow angel; so I would say that the first snow day was a success!

We have also been very busy around here trying to prepare the house for Noah. We bought paint for the nursery and Kaden's room on Wednesday, and Patrick worked very hard to get both rooms painted yesterday. They look fantastic, and I will post pictures as soon as we get both rooms back in shape! It's hard to believe that we could have as little as 2 1/2 weeks until Noah is here... it kind of freaks me out when I think about it! Anyway, we will be ready for him whenever he arrives!

Speaking of the new addition, I went to the doctor yesterday, and the little guy is doing just fine. He is breech now, which is new for me because Kaden never flipped like this. It feels so weird because his head is right under my chest, and it just kind of sticks out. Plus, he is constantly doing the two-step on my bladder which is making for more bathroom trips than ever before. Regardless of the discomfort, I am trying to enjoy the pregnancy as long as I can because I know that things are going to be CRAZY once he gets here. I am really excited though! I'm going to put some pictures from Kaden's snow day, so enjoy!

33 Weeks!

Hi All! Not too much has changed since my last update. I went to the doctor yesterday, and everything is looking good with Noah. My doctor thinks we'll probably do an amniocentesis at 37 weeks, and, if it shows that Noah's lungs are developed enough, we'll have a baby then! If not, the big day will probably be during my 38th week. Either way, we don't have too much time until he gets here :) We really want to get him out as soon as possible because my blood sugars have just been so out of control, and it could potentially cause a lot of problems for both Noah and me. As for now, though, everything looks good!

Jack is home (and I'm 32 weeks)!!

Things around here just never slow down! On Sunday, we finally got to bring our toy poodle, Jack, home with us. We've had him for almost 3 years, but he's been staying at my parents' house for the last six months while we construct a fence here at our new home. Kaden is absolutely thrilled to have him here! He is constantly hugging him, and he loves to walk him around with the leash. Kaden was never too crazy about Jack before, but I guess since he's bigger than Jack now he likes him. The other day I woke up at 5 a.m. and saw that Kaden had come into our bedroom and was lying on the floor next to where Jack was sleeping. It was absolutely precious! Of course, my camera was downstairs, so I didn't get any pictures. I was really worried about the adjustment to a dog in the house again, but everything has gone smoothly. Let's hope it goes that way when we bring a new baby home!
I went to the doctor Tuesday for the first of many biophysical profiles. Basically, I'll be going into the doctor every week for an ultrasound so we can measure Noah's growth and make sure everything is going according to plan. As of now, the baby looks great. He is around 4 pounds 6 ounces which is really closer to the measurements of a baby at 34 weeks. I've been having lots of issues with my blood sugars and insulin resistance (oh the joy of being diabetic and pregnant!), so that explains why Noah is slightly larger than he should be. The nurse said that at this rate, we are looking at Noah being between 7 1/2 and 8 pounds which isn't huge. We got another 4D ultrasound, so we were able to get a better look at what he actually looks like. Right now, he has a full head of hair! Also, looking at the ultrasound pictures, it looks like Noah's nose is going to be more like Patrick's than mine. I am going to put the ultrasound photos on here, so hopefully you will be able to make out his face and his arm! Keep checking back because I'm going to try to update every week after my doctor visits!
